Curvilinear Belts (FHT, HTD)
Curvilinear belts were developed to increase drive efficiency and belt/pulley
meshing. The HTD design, developed by Uniroyal in the 1970’s, was an early
curvilinear belts profile that is still used in many applications today. Fenner Precision
sought to improve the curvilinear belt concept with the design and development of
Fenner High Torque (FHT) series belts. Today, FHT belts provide customers
with higher-torque carrying, smoother-running belts that continue to outperform
competitors' second and third generation curvilinear belt products in comparative
testing.
Trapezoidal Belts (MXL, XL, T-pitches)
Trapezoidal belts have been an international standard for many years. Details of
the profiles can be found in the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA)
standard IP-24.
T-pitch belts are metric-based trapezoidal belts commonly used in Europe. They
are similar to the profiles found in IP-24, but they are not scalable or
interchangeable with these designs.

Standard Belt Specification Ranges
- FHT is the preferred tooth profile for 1 mm, 2mm, 3 mm, and 5 mm pitch belts.
- The standard urethane hardness is 80 Shore A durometer. Other durometers are available - 60 Shore A to 95 Shore A.
- The standard operating temperature range is -40° C to 80° C (-40° F to 176° F)
- The standard belt backside surface finish is textured; however, smooth surfaces are available on request for some conveying applications.
